Networking Film & Music Festivals

Music and film festivals are great ways to network and expand your brands. Your next opportunity to do so is now March 8-17 in Austin, Texas for SXSW 2013. The South by Southwest conference and festivals offer both independent films and original music, "fostering creative and professional growth alike, SXSW is the premier destination for discovery".

Registration starts March 9th at 7:30 am and activities will run through 12:00am Sunday March 17th. Activities include but aren't limited to book signings, comedy shows, film screening and musical performances just to name a few. Learning is a lifetime activity and festivals like this offer plenty of discussion panels that will allow you to take part in Q&A sessions to improve you knowledge of the industry and career.

When attending these events you should set a networking plan up and execute it. For example you set a goal of meeting ten industry professionals and of that ten you will want to follow-up and build connections with half. In a world of social networks, social media app's and mobile devices this will be easy.

While I have not attended the SXSW festival myself, I have volunteered, interned and attended a host of others that have been very beneficial to my entertainment career. Building a solid network is the most important element of an entertainment career. So stop waiting on doors to open and get out there and knock some doors down.

Fuse Tv has put together a list of the 20 Best Music Festivals of 2013 as well as a SXSW 2013 Survival guide. Please explore the links provided to see what all the talk is about and launch your career into new heights.
